After the Ghostpocalypse
A downloadable project
A TTRPG for GM and Players
WHAT IS THIS EXACTLY THOUGH?
Generations ago the barrier between worlds erupted. A flood of malign spirits, all who had died before, terrorized the earth. Children born after this disaster possessed no souls. Civilization collapsed and humanity was reduced to being eternal refugees, scratching out a meager survival in the remnants of a nearly forgotten prosperity. They try to establish lasting townships, but are continually plagued by ghosts and their minions.
The ways of technology and even power tools have been lost. Literacy is considered a skill belonging only to the most powerful minds. Yet superstition compels people to hoard technological scrap and books as though they are enchanted talismans of protection.
The exception to all of this is you: the Exorcists. No one knows how Exorcists came about, but everyone knows of them. You have a soul, so people rarely trust you. You can use your soul and training to craft technoscrap into Exorcist Tech. You were taught to read, and can gain knowledge from books. You can also consume the essence of powerful ghosts known as The Unhinged and use it to cultivate your feared spirit powers.
So you move from town to town in your Exorcist Wagon, taking care of people’s ghost problems in exchange for parcels of scrap and an occasional book. Life goes on, and you survive. You ask yourself “Isn’t there more to life than this?” And the answer is yes. Yes there is...
